RACING

Barking Brook is a working kennel. We are training for mid-distance races and day long adventures.

SANDWICH NOTCH

This is my team at the start. I was in the 30 mile/6 dog class. I finished 14th out of 35 teams. I won the "novice award" as this was my first sled race. I was very pleased with my team. My team was Rainy-Jordan (Cook's dog) , Joy (Johnson's dog)-Juniper, Hakka - Kubota. This was an amazing team. It was probably the best, fastest, cleanest run I have had all season. I can't say enough about the dogs...each and everyone of them gave 100%. Just looking at this picture thrills me with the memory of being there with my dogs. I just love my dogs.

MEREDITH SPRINT RACE

----- Alisha's Team -----

Alisha, my step-daughter, entered a team for the race weekend. She ran Nikka-Siepa, Triton-Hakka. She and the dogs did well, and they all had a lot of fun!

This is Saturday's close finish. 5 happy grins!

A whole pack closing in on the finish line Saturday.

Sunday's finish. Near white-out conditions. The dogs stuck the the trail and ran very well.

----- Whatleigh's Team -----

This was Saturday's start. Little did I know...these leaders would try to run off the lake! We've never run on such an "open" course, and my more dependable leaders were with Alisha. And 2 other leaders home for various reasons.

This is us at the finish on Sunday. I moved the dogs around in position for Sunday, and we stayed on course! Go Kubota! Hera also in lead, but not in photo.

That's my big smile...the team ran well and we had fun.

WORKING DAY AND THE AUBURN RIG RACE

Team: Blanche-Rainy, Nikka-Kubota, Denali-Hakka. My new "medium" risdon rig...

WORKING DAY AND THE AUBURN RIG RACE

Team: Nikka-Siepa, Denali-Sasha

Out of the start. Look at Sasha's happy grin.

Almost at the finish. We had fun!

White Mountain Quest Skijor Race, Boomer and Trader

Trusty Boomer and Nikka. Just the pair to take on a 15 mile skijor through wonderful moutains and steeo decents through powerlines. I later learned someone thought I was a spectator as he mushed his team by...bcs I was just sitting in a snow bank with 2 dogs on my lap. I was resting before tackling the steep snaking trail to the bottom of the powerlines section. My legs weren't working...we got the red lantern in this race.

-------------------------------------------------------

Tamworth Skijor class

Start.

Finish. Sunday we DNF'd as Anuk figured out that it was an out and back and in her typical way, insisted on a short cut. She doesn't understand about rules...she's all about the quickest way home. If I were ever lost I'd put her in lead. I am sure she would take us home or to the truck, wherever she thought there was food.

Sandwich Notch - skijor class - 15 miles!

My best pals Nikka and Boomer. You couldn't pick better compantions for such an adventure! I must admit to nearly weeping with relief at the finish, 15 miles is a long way to go on one jelly doughnut for breakfast.
